Actaris is a leading international meter installation and management company. The company needed a system to manage field workers performing meter management functions such as installations, repairs, inspections and recording location data. The requirement was for a system offering mobile, secure and real-time information.
Solution
Ace Frontline was developed using state-of-the-art mobile technology. The system uses rugged handheld computers and GPRS technology to centrally track all changes in the field in real-time.. The system uses a built-in bar code scanner and GPS to reduce the incidence of human error. The solution has been rolled out in locations such as Abu Dhabi where it was used to manage the installation of 60,000 meters.
InsureYourself
Mobile Insurance SalesProblem
The insurance industry is finding it extremely expensive to acquire and service new and existing customers. The high cost of servicing this market includes the collection of funds and handling months where clients are unable to pay due to cash-flow constraints. In addition, compliance and government legislation which ensures that consumers will be better protected has significantly increased the administrative burden on insurance companies. While call centre costs for sales and administration remain high in relation to the actual underwriting costs.

InsureYourself is a multi million rand project, jointly funded by Saratoga Software and the Department of Trade and Industry. InsureYourself is a technology driven “self-service” insurance solution for mobile phones and the internet. The solution utilises recent innovations in mobile and web technology to allow people to serve themselves as far as possible on a range of new insurance products that offer more value to the consumer. In summary, InsureYourself plans to take a Google-like approach, leveraging innovative, automated technology to allow simple commodity insurance products to be purchased.
