As one of the winners of our Team Player Award at Saratoga, Prian Reddy thrives in a team environment. In his current role as Scrum Master at our Johannesburg office, Prian works closely with a team of three developers and two testers to successfully drive the project delivery. “In the Scrum Master role, each day can bring new challenges, facilitating Scrum sessions, keeping the team focused towards a common goal, encouraging team collaboration, and learning from our experiences” explains Prian.
One important aspect of his role as Scrum Master is making time for research. Prian is sure to keep himself up to date with agile trends, and also challenges his team to learn and experiment with new tools and concepts that may work well in their project environment.
For Prian, one of the most interesting things about his career is that he works in an industry where technology is continually advancing, and as a consultant he is able to support our clients with driving their business forward using cutting edge technologies. “What I also find interesting is that no matter how far we keep pushing the boundaries of technology, or how much we continue to learn and grow our skills as technology professionals, the human element and the relationships we build with those around us, can be the most critical component for success in the work we do, and how we grow as professionals in the technology space.”
When interviewing for an open role at Saratoga, Prian was curious to find out why the staff member interviewing him had been with Saratoga for more than 5 years and was particularly interested in what had kept this staff member at the company. “The response that I received was mainly centered on the people and the culture at Saratoga, both of which I truly believe is what sets any company apart from their competitors. Two and a half years on and I still look forward to each of my interactions with fellow Saratogans – there is a passion and drive in each one of these professionals and you are very likely to build some great relationships at Saratoga”.
From his experiences at Saratoga, building strong self-managing development teams has become a new found passion for Prian over the years. The challenges that come with working closely with development teams that are willing to learn, innovate and challenge each other is very rewarding and keeps Prian motivated.
As part of his career development at Saratoga, Prian has been able to also work on his personal development as a leader through the inspiring leadership training sessions offered by Saratoga. “The lessons from these collaborative working sessions have given me exposure to various tools, models and learnings that I continually use in my self-development”.
